About the role:

We are in search of a Management Accountant to become an integral part of our team, dedicated to crafting accurate and punctual management reports, and providing valuable analysis and support to key stakeholders. This pivotal role entails essential duties in accounting and tax compliance, including overseeing VAT filings and collaborating closely with our external auditors. Moreover, the position offers the opportunity to play a key role in advancing our processes and systems, aligning them with the evolving needs and growth of our business

Key Responsibilities:

Month-End Mastery:

Assume complete responsibility for the month-end close process, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with best practices.

Journal Management:

Accurately post and review monthly journal entries, ensuring they reflect the company's financial activities precisely.

Balance Sheet Reconciliation:

Conduct thorough reconciliations of balance sheet accounts, meticulously overseeing prepayments, accruals, fixed assets, and payroll to ensure financial integrity.

Revenue Reconciliation:

Partner with the Finance Team to reconcile and account for various revenue streams, aligning them accurately within the financial period.

Management Reporting:

Craft and deliver comprehensive monthly management accounts, providing critical financial insights to the Finance management team and essential stakeholders.

Analytical Support:

Aid the Financial Leadership team in conducting detailed month-end variance analyses, identifying and explaining key financial deviations.

Tax Compliance:

Manage and submit quarterly VAT returns, ensuring adherence to relevant laws and regulations, and play a key role in fulfilling other compliance obligations.

Audit Engagement:

Act as the primary liaison with external auditors, preparing and organising requested documentation and information with precision and professionalism.

Tax and R&D Support:

Coordinate the preparation of necessary data for corporate tax and R&D tax credit calculations, liaising with external advisors to ensure accuracy and compliance.

Ad Hoc Responsibilities:

Embrace additional tasks as they arise, demonstrating flexibility and a commitment to the company's financial health and operational excellence.

Qualifications and Skills:

Holder of ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or similar qualifications.

Adaptability and effectiveness in a rapidly evolving environment.

Initiative and the capability to operate independently.

Keen attention to detail with a questioning mindset towards existing procedures.

Excellent organisational skills, with the knack for juggling and prioritizing tasks.

Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills, comfortable interacting with various organisational levels.

About This Sector

There an increasingly urgent global and UK focus on the climate emergency, electrification and green energy solutions, with interrelated issues coming to the fore such as decarbonisation, green infrastructure provision and clean air. The ban on new petrol/diesel car sales comes in from 2030 and despite growing consumer interest levels (over 900,000 electric / hybrid vehicles are already on the road) the public charging infrastructure remains inadequate.

Approximately 300,000 chargers will be needed by 2030; today there are just 37,000. The good news is that this represents a 30% year on year increase, though this lags somewhat behind the 38% annual growth in sales of battery electric cars during the year to November (Source: Zap Map).

Be.EV is passionate about rising up to this challenge, and to democratising access across every region and community. Currently the Midlands, the North and North East lag some way behind the South East.
